For 40 years BOSS have built their reputation as the most well known company in the world of guitar and bass effects. To celebrate their 40th anniversary they have come together with one of the most well respected companies in the boutique world for a historic creative collaboration. In a fashion not dissimilar with Roland’s collaboration with Studio Electronics on the SE-02 Analog Synth, BOSS have joined forces with JHS Pedals to release the JB-2 Angry Driver.
The Angry Driver combines the tones of BOSS’s famous BD-2 Blues Driver with the popular Angry Charlie from JHS. Featuring three dual-concentric knobs that provide independent drive, tone and level control for each overdrive type, the Angry Driver allows to to use each drive independently, or combine them together in series or parallel configurations via a six-mode selector. This allows you to blend the low to mid gain tones of the Blues Driver with the more JCM-800 like high gain voice of the Angry Charlie, allowing for a huge array of versatility.
They’re due to be released very soon and you can pre-order one here. Otherwise check out more of how this collaboration came about on the video below, or read our chat with BOSS President Yoshihiro Ikegami from last year where we talk quite a bit about BOSS’s ethos towards running the biggest pedal manufacturer in the world in the age of the boutique boom.
