Created to celebrate 75 years of continuous guitar production in Melbourne, Australia, the Maton 75th Anniversary is a showcase of the company’s finest design, construction and Australian tonewoods. Drawing on decades of experience alongside the work of Maton’s emerging generation of luthiers and the Custom Shop, the model introduces the Traditional body shape to production—a format designed to sit tonally between the powerful response of a dreadnought and the focused character of the 808 series. Its AAA Sitka Spruce soundboard is paired with AA Grade Victorian Blackwood back and sides and a Queensland Maple neck, creating a balanced, responsive voice with rich midrange, fast dynamics and subtle harmonic detail.

Considerable attention has been given to the instrument’s construction, including forward-positioned scalloped bracing, a re-scaled Blackwood bridge plate and four arched back braces designed to enhance tonal balance and lower-midrange response. An A-grade ebony fingerboard and bridge, Mother of Pearl inlays, herringbone rosette and binding, and an ebony headstock featuring a seven-piece diamond inlay celebrate the 75th anniversary in understated Maton style. Finished in high gloss with a vintage amber sunburst, open-back Grover tuners and a slim, lightweight finish, the 75th Anniversary is a beautifully considered instrument that brings together 75 years of Melbourne guitar-making heritage with Maton’s modern approach to acoustic design.
