Small Body Acoustic Guitars
Before the popularisation of dreadnoughts, small body acoustics were the most widely used shape in the early uses of acoustic guitars. Companies such as Martin & Gibson have been making small body acoustics in shapes such as the Parlor, Grand Concert (or 00), Auditorium (or 000, Orchestra or OM) and more. The different options in the smaller shape often offer a more comfortable playability than that of their bigger siblings. The smaller bodies also offer differing levels of projection and focus that are often popular choices for fingerstyle guitarists, players with a softer touch or players looking for a guitar that will compress quicker when played loudly. In recent years travel guitar models and mini guitar options have become popular options for guitarists looking for something more compact for around the house or to take away when travelling.
